Clinique Summer Girl Search 2012
Still not convinced? Well, if you've always wanted to appear on the cover of a magazine (and I don't mean the ones at the purikura booths in malls XD), this is your chance, as live auditions for Clinique Summer Girl 2012 will be held at the party. The editors of CLEO and Cosmopolitan Malaysia themselves will audition the participants and they will choose the girl that best represent each magazine. So take the plunge (you can literally do that at the party, lol) and who knows, you might be the next cover girl for one of these magazines!

I'm really excited for this beach party because it's the first ever Clinique even I've been invited to attend as a media blogger! :D I was pretty bummed at not going for the Clinique Star Tour 2010 roadshows, so I'm definitely not gonna miss this one. I'm already planning my beach outfit! If you need ideas, why not take some tips from Polyvore and CollegeFashion? ;)

What are you waiting for?! Hurry and get your tickets from selected Clinique roadshows or the Clinique Facebook page! ^^

(Another) Singapore Haul

♫ T.O.P. - 오늘따라 (Of All Days)

I'll probably be a little inconsistent with my blog posts for the next few weeks, until I get used to having a regular working schedule. =/ Second day of internship was good but uneventful. 3 more months to go; phew, it looks like a pretty looooooong 3 months, lol.

Anyway, here's my Singapore haul post. How could I go on a trip to Singapore and not buy some goodies back, right? :D

Anyway, since this is a haul post, rest assured it won't be a long one. So sit back, enjoy the pictures, and let me know what items caught your attention. Who knows, you might see a couple of them in my next giveaway! ;)

Harry Potter: The Exhibition merchandise
Closer look at the two items.
Got these merchandise from Harry Potter: The Exhibition. Ridiculously overpriced, but that's the price to pay for being a fan. *shrugs* Pictured above is a blank Harry Potter: The Exhibition notebook, packet of Chocolate Frog, Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans and a wand pen made to look like Harry's wand (it also came with a bookmark but it was meh =/).

Essential hair care
My poor, dry hair ends are in need of a rescue! Bought the Essential Damage-Care Rich Premier Conditioner (left) and Essential Damage-Care Rich Premier Shampoo (right), plus the Essential Ultra Honey & Shea Butter hair mask. I've used the hair mask only once so far and it really did make my hair smoother and not so dry. I'd forgotten how good it is. :D

Essence nail polish and eyeshadow brushes
I'm really annoyed by the Essence cosmetics sold here in Malaysia. None of their booths are updated to carry the latest collections. I've only seen the Metallics range and Rockstar range here ever since it opened. *rage* Anyway, I was really happy to see that the eyeshadow brushes were sold in Singapore. :) Upper brush is the Smokey Eyes Brush, bottom one is Eyeshadow Brush. I chose "Shopping Trip in Soho/Party All Night Long" from the Nail Colour 3 range. I'd seen swatches of the range before but forgot which ones were nice, so I opted for the pink duo. Came home and looked through blogs and realized I should have taken the one in Midnight Date. T_T (You can see the swatches here.)

Peripera My Color Lips lipstick
Gave in to temptation and bought another Peripera My Color Lips lipstick, this time in 10 Rose Pink. Expect a review sometime in July. :) In the meantime, check out my previous Peripera review if you haven't already. :P

Forever 21 lip gloss
Saw these and other makeup items (eyeshadows) being sold in Forever 21. These were going for really cheap, so I snapped up two of these Forever 21 Love & Beauty lip glosses in Purple (top) and Pink (bottom). They're supposed to be sheer lip glosses though, so don't be alarmed by the colour. :D

Style: magazine Singapore x Vince Camuto notebook
Vince Camuto notebook in hot pink!
Blank pages inside with a few glossy inserts with pictures and quotes.
One of the great things about Singapore magazines is that they actually give out great freebies. Last time around I bought a magazine that came with an Agnes b. bag organizer. This time, I bought one that had a Style: X Vince Camuto notebook as the freebie. It looks and feels pretty much like a Moleskine notebook! Plus it's an awesomely hot pink colour. XD (Anyway, if you're wondering who Vince Camuto is, he's actually the co-founder of Nine West, and started his own footwear line in 2005.)

Yup, that's all for today. :D Have a great week ahead! ^^

Singapore Again: Harry Potter The Exhibition

♫ Lady Antebellum - Dancin' Away With My Heart

I've finally reached the end of my communication studies degree in university! :) It's nearing the end of my one-week break before starting internship next week, so I've been using the time to go for a short trip and hang out with my friends.

What can I say? Endings and new beginnings are always bittersweet.

My friend and I had heard about the Harry Potter exhibition being held in Singapore, and so, as true Harry Potter fans, we made plans to go and take a look right after all our assignments were done. And go we did. :D

Rhea with her 3DS while waiting for the delayed KTM.
KL lights flashing past.
We took the night train (KTM) from KL and arrived in Singapore around 7.30 a.m. You'd get seriously butt-hurt too if you had to sit on a hard, narrow seat for about 8 hours. x_x The sleeping berths and first class seats were all sold out. :(

After having breakfast in McD, we headed to our hostel in Boat Quay to check in our bags and refresh ourselves before heading to the Art Science Museum at Marina Bay Sands. We stayed at the same place last year for AFA so the route was pretty much familiar to us by now.

Boat Quay in the morning.
After a change of clothing and resting a while, we set off to take the MRT to Marina Bay. :)

You can see the reflection of the Marina Bay Sands on the glass of the Art Science Museum. :)
Both of us were excited like 8-year-old kids when we saw this upon entering the Art Science Museum.
We are finally here!
The ticket queue wasn't too long yet when we arrived slightly before noon. When we came out around 1.30 p.m., the line was considerably longer.
Tickets!
Couldn't resist the photo op here, haha!
These were pasted on the floor in the area before the exhibition.
The infamous Flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
This way to the exhibition.
They were selling the Harry Potter Exhibition Guide book for S$30. Kinda tempted to get one, but didn't buy it in the end. >_<

This is actually the exit of the merchandise 'shoppe', which also marks the end of the exhibition.

Merchandise from the exhibition
Of course we had to buy some merchandise back! (Overpriced, but meh.) A blank notebook, a Chocolate Frog, a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, and a wand pen which is supposed to be a replica of the one Harry uses (there's a bookmark with it too but I forgot to include it in the picture).

Unfortunately, photographs inside the exhibition itself was strictly forbidden, so these are the only pics I can show you. :( If you're curious as to what's inside, check out the extensive coverage - with photos! - of the Harry Potter exhibition here. It was a really great experience to see the props, costumes and miscellaneous stuff that were used in the movie. The attention to detail and the size and scope of the entire series is unbelievable. (I felt pretty much the same when I visited the LOTR exhibition back in 2004, perhaps even more because of all the real weapons and armour.)

We had plenty of time to kill after that, so we walked around, had lunch, and went shopping in Orchard until late.

Huge shallow pond full of pretty pink, yellow and purple lotus flowers.
Beautiful pale purple lotus in bloom.
It was really windy outside the Art Science Museum. My Harry Potter paper bag almost flew away! >_<
The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Swanky place indeed. Even the whole mall smells expensive LOL
My favourite takoyaki at Ion. ♥
Crisp on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Ahhh~
Reflective wall at the small eating area in Ion Food Hall.
Tested some Peripera lipsticks in Watsons. :D
(A haul post will be up next, so stay tuned!)

Next morning, we had Mos Burger for brunch. I decided to try the Premium Wagyu Beef Burger, with extra cheese. :D

Patty > burger bun. #WIN
The burger was really yummy! There was a generous wagyu beef patty (which was bigger than the bun wtf), with lettuce and some sort of sweet-ish onion and mushroom sauce. The cheese (add S$0.20) made it taste even better.

After that, we had to catch the train at 1.45 p.m. at Woodlands. We managed to get sleeping berths for the journey back to KL, so it wasn't as bad since we could sleep and stretch our legs.

It was a short but nice trip. :) Hopefully we'll be back again soon for AFA 2012!

Review: Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner - Brown (Limited Edition)

♫ Taylor Swift - Safe and Sound (ft. The Civil Wars)

If you'd read my previous post on brown liquid eyeliner, you'll know that I am still searching for a good liquid eyeliner that's brown instead of black. Yes, there are a whole lot of black liquid eyeliners in the market, but brown ones are much harder to find, and when it comes to pen-type liquid eyeliners in brown, well, there aren't many to choose from at all.

So imagine my delight when I read Jessying's blog and saw that Kiss Me had a special offer for its limited edition brown liquid eyeliner! I was like, I need to get to the nearest Kiss Me mobile truck NOW!

Well,I finally managed to get my hands on the limited edition Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner in Brown, and it came with a free full-sized rose hand and nail cream.

The details on the back, which include directions and ingredients.  The original is in Japanese, so they usually stick a translated English version over it so we can read. ^^"

The packaging of the eyeliner pen itself is so pretty. The normal (black) one is a deep maroon colour with gold accents (pictured here), but this limited edition brown one is light pink with a dark brown cap. It also has lettering and rose motifs on it in the same dark brown shade.

It has a 0.1mm ultra thin brush tip, making it super easy to draw precise, thin lines when going for the au naturel look. :D Of course, you can also draw thick lines with it too!

Here, I'm comparing it to the Essence Eyeliner Pen, which is jet black, felt-tipped and considerably thicker than the Heroine Make's Smooth Liquid Eyeliner.
You can clearly see the brown cap here. :)
Below are the swatches on bare skin and after washing with water.

As you can see, the Essence eyeliner is not waterproof, and draws a thicker line compared to the Heroine Make. There is also a difference in the colour, although it might not be so noticeable on the eyelids. The Heroine Make eyeliner is dark brown and almost completely waterproof. I had to remove it using a makeup remover.
Top: without eyeliner; Bottom: with the Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner
Left: with the Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner; Right: without eyeliner
The best thing I like about this product is that it is waterproof! I literally wore it all day from morning until night, and it barely budged. This is also the perfect dark brown eyeliner. To me, the brown is dark enough to not look strange, but at the same time it is not as stark as black, so it does look more natural, especially when paired with brown/neutral eyeshadows. I wish they'd put this on the permanent line so that people will have an extra choice when choosing eyeliners. Or maybe they could come up with blue or green! That would be awesome. :D

The Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner - limited edition Brown (0.4ml) retails at RM49.90. Mine was bought in the Kiss Me mobile truck during their roadshow, and it came with a free full-sized hand and nail cream.

✓ Pros: Waterproof, dark brown colour suitable for natural eye makeup, ultra thin brush-tip is great for precise eyeliner application.
✗ Cons: Due to it being limited edition, it might be difficult to find in stores.

Anime Festival Asia - Malaysia Edition (AFA MY)

♫ Bump Of Chicken - ゼロ (Zero)

Yesterday was the second and final day of Anime Festival Asia  Malaysia (AFAMY), so my friend and I went to check it out. The event was held at PWTC, so it was easily accessible by public transport, albeit a little further away from the beaten track. We got there around 1 p.m., so the ticket booths were practically empty.

Festival ticket only; RM 15.
We decided to just get the Festival ticket, since we were just there to take a look around and compare it to previous AFAs. It's a good thing we did, because we weren't really interested in the Stage events, and there was no timetable listed on the brochure.

We thought the event was in one of the halls in the main building, but it turned out to be the ones on the opposite, across the river (after seeing the PWTC guards trying to shoo away cosplayers).

It was hot and stuffy, even with the air-conditioning, because of the confined space and mass of people around.

First thing we saw when we entered the hall was Danny Choo's Culture Japan booth, complete with Mirai itasha. Talk about a sweet ride. ;)

Moekana cards on the dash!
Is it just me or is something wrong with the picture here? Look, Mirai-chan Touch'n'Go cards, an iPad with the Miraiclock app... and a Stormtrooper with Danny Choo's head?!

Now that's just creepy.

Dollfies
The Good Smile Company booth
This Ultimate Madoka was pretty awesome. I mean, look at those wings!

There was a huge crowd lining up for the Moe Moe Kyun maid cafe and Atelier Royale butler cafe.

The Bandai booth was disappointingly small. :( Spotted a few nice figurines though.

Most of the good stuff like AFA shirts were already sold out at the AFA Shop, but the Moekana cards were back in stock. :D They were sold out the day before.

AFA Shop at one corner of the hall.
In a bizarre turn of events, this even showed up in AFA.

Diablo III: Collector's Edition box set
WANT. SO BAD. asdfghjkfghjkl

Of course, what's AFA without some cosplayers, right? :D

Tadakatsu Honda from Sengoku Basara
Sice from Final Fantasy Type-0
Alois and Ciel from Kuroshitsuji
No idea which anime/manga/game this is from, but they're pretty good. :)
Assassins from AC.
I should know this, but I don't. Anyway, kitsune fight!
You get a stamp like this on the way out of the event halls, in case you need to go back in to recover your lost katana, buy some Moekana booster packs or snap more cosplayers.

To be honest, I think that AFA MY has a lot of improve upon. The event itself was okay, but the venue was a bit too small and dimly lit. That being said, there were a lot of empty spaces in the event hall. Also, I expected a lot of more booths from more anime/game companies. I'm not sure if the brochure I got was faulty or what, but there was no listing of events and stage shows for both days, and neither were there sign boards with the scheduled show times, so it was pretty confusing.

Last but not least, (and this is just my personal opinion)...

...which is why I did not take any photos of Miku cosplayers, because there were too damn many and they annoy the hell out of me.

You can also check out my experience of AFA 2011 in Singapore here!
