Etude House Beauty Sharing BFF Party

♫ SHINee 샤이니 - Dream Girl

Pinky sweet! That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Etude House.  (●♡∀♡)
That's SHINee, Etude House's current ambassadors ^^
Thanks to Kelly, I managed  to get a pair of invites to the Etude House Beauty Sharing BFF Party at Korea Plaza on 23 March 2013. Ruth and I were too lazy to walk didn't know how to get there from KLCC, so we just took a cab to the place, lol.

We got there slightly after 11 am, and the place was already half packed with guests and bloggers. :D I was really glad to meet Kelly at the entrance, and we quickly took a (rare) photo together before I went off to explore the activities with Ruth.
Me and Kelly :)
Ruth and I spent a bit of time just walking around the event area, and it was pretty interesting. Korea Plaza is actually sort of like the hub for the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), so they have lots of information regarding popular and beautiful holiday destinations around South Korea.

Posterboards of the top 10 holiday destinations in South Korea
They have a voting competition going on, where you vote for your top 3 favourite spots. :)
Traditional Korean musical instruments on display
Super cute traditional dolls and ornaments
They also some of their latest makeup collections on display in glass display cases. I super love the ice-cream cone-shaped nail polish! <3

Super cute pastries and ice-cream from their Sweet Recipe collection!
Ooooh, lip gloss!
More cute makeup! Srsly, everything is too cute omg
We decided to line up for a manicure first, because the queue was getting pretty long. It took more than half an hour for our turn to get a manicure. :(

The products used for the hand massage. Love the rose one!
Finally time for manicure! I chose the pink gradient manicure. :3
Check out our manicures! XD Ruth actually went and got 2 different colours for both hands, lol. I really like the silver one that they did for her. It looks very dainty and ethereal, reminiscent of fairy wings. Sorry for the blurry photo T_T it doesn't do our manicures any justice.

Our glittery manicures
Right after we got our manicures done, the food was also served, so we went to grab some photos and food. The rice cake was very good (albeit a bit spicy) but the 'sushi' roll was just okay. The tea was nice too.
Some refreshments for the hungry bloggers :P
After that, it was time to take photos! While waiting for my turn to wear the hanbok (traditional Korean outfit)...
SHINee alert! Choi Minho spotted!
Minho fangirl alert! Ψ(`▽´)Ψ
...and after donning the hanbok. (*´∀`*)
It was fun!
There was a makeup booth too, but queue was too long so we decided not to go for it. (╯︵╰,)

We just sat around taking pics and chatting with several other blogger friends. ( ⌒o⌒)人(⌒-⌒ )v
Clockwise from top left: Angeline, Nicole, Ruth and Carolyn
3 of us were sitting together, and then I noticed that our shoes were so similar!
Can you guess which shoes belong to which blogger? :P
It was a pretty fun event, and it was great spending some time with my blogger friends and BFF. It's been a while since I've been able to attend such an event, so it was great to mingle with them and catch up on all the gossip/news. (`・ω・´)”

Look at the goodie bag they gave; so many cute and pretty things! :3
Super cute box (but we had to carry it around in our arms because there's no handle lllorz)
Lots of goodies inside!
Thank you Etude House and KTO for organizing such a fun event for BFFs! :D I'm looking forward to the next pinky sweet event, hehe~

I ♥ Etude House! (and Choi Minho, wtflol)
I shall end my post with a picture of me with a life-sized standee of Minho, who is my SHINee bias. :P Till next time, stay pretty and sweet, all you lovely peeps! (。♥‿♥。)

Review: SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes

♫ JJ 林俊杰 - One Shot (ft. 王力宏 violin solo)

Do you suffer from laugh lines, puffy eyes or dark circles? If the answer is YES to one or all of those, then you'll definitely want to keep reading on! :D

SAMPAR Paris Glamour Shot Eyes cosmakeup
Continuing from my previous Glamour Shot review, I'll also be introducing the SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes under-eye concealer. In a similar vein to the Glamour Shot foundation, this is a transparent under-eye concealer that erases dark circles, brightens dark areas around the eyes and blurs wrinkles and fine lines, all in one minute after application. It also has anti-wrinkles action when used long term.

SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes (10ml full size)
All of SAMPAR's products are packaged in a very classy and minimalist way. The outer packaging is just a simple glossy pink and white box with a pattern of the Paris skyline at the bottom, while the Glamour Shot is housed in a silver and pale pink tube.

SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes
The overall design is reminiscent of a typical mascara packaging. The tube is made from plastic but feels very sturdy and substantial. Me likey. :P

Doe-foot wand applicator
The SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes comes with a doe-foot wand for easier and more hygienic application. You can either apply it directly to the under-eye area then blend like you would regular concealer (my preferred method), or swipe a small amount on the back of your hand then dab it around the under-eye area.

Swatch of Glamour Shot Eyes
The Glamour Shot Eyes itself looks white just like the Glamour Shot foundation, but has a lighter and slightly more watery texture in comparison. This is due to the fact that it is meant to be used specifically for the sensitive eye area, hence it has to be more gentle than its foundation counterpart. It turns transparent when applied evenly around the under-eye area.

How to use SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes
It is recommended to moisturize the eye contour prior to application. Using the wand, place 3 dots (I usually just do 1 swipe 'coz I'm lazy like that ^^;;) of the product on the under-eye area, and lightly pat with fingertips. Finish by patting some loose or compact powder, and you're all set! Do note that just like the Glamour Shot foundation, it is not compatible with liquid/cream foundations or concealers.

L: with GSE; R: without GSE
This is just from my first application, and although it might not look like much, the side which has Glamour Shot Eyes actually looks brighter, smoother and slightly lifted (looking more awake). All within ONE minute, as claimed. Needless to say, I was impressed.

Week 1 to Week 4 of using Glamour Shot Eyes (click for larger image)
I used the Glamour Shot Eyes for 5 consecutive weeks (with a few days break in between) and the results are pretty obvious! Dark circles and puffiness begone! Hello to brighter and more awake-looking eyes! :D

My Verdict?
SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes is my go-to product on days when I need to zoom out the door with minimal fuss about makeup. Just a few swipes, pat it into the under-eye area, a swipe of compact powder, a flick of eyeliner and I'm good to go!

✓ Pros: Instant lifting effect, eliminates dark circles, reduces puffiness, smoothens wrinkles and lines, saves time during makeup, has long term anti-wrinkles effect, simple yet effect packaging, doe-foot applicator is easy to use and perfect for application.
✗ Cons: Does not work with liquid/cream foundations and concealers, not recommended for those looking to conceal severe dark circles.

WISHTREND - The Hub of Korean Cosmetics

♫ 에일리(Ailee) - 얼음꽃 (Ice Flower)

Are you a fan of Asian skincare and cosmetics? With the ever-increasing popularity of Asian cosmetics over the past few years, it is no wonder that women (and men) all over the world are looking to Korea for their beauty needs.

Introducing WISHTrend, the hub of Korean cosmetics! WISHTrend is an online beauty website that sells products from various Korean beauty and skincare brands, including Ciracle, ElishaCoy, Klair's, L'Cret, Rojukiss, Skin79, ToSoWoong, and Whan (for men) just to name a few.

Besides selling Korean beauty products, their website also often features recommended products and articles on beauty and skincare. They even have YouTube channel, WISHTrendTV, that posts videos discussing makeup and skincare. Here's on of my favourite video topics so far - K-Pop Male Idol Makeup Trend.

Makeup on guys is still a controversial topic in most societies (yes, even in Korea!) so it's a new insight into how the K-Pop industry is pushing the boundaries of male makeup. Personally, I think that is one of the attractions of K-Pop. *enthusiastically waves TVXQ, JYJ  and Big Bang lightstick(s)*

WISH Company Facebook page
If you're a frequent Facebook stalker user like, just head on over to the WISH Company Facebook page, where you can get all the latest updates on their newest products, as well as get beauty tips from their makeup experts. They sometimes even do surprise giveaways! :D

WISHTrend stands out from many other websites that claim they are the 'experts' in Korean skincare, because you can see how they focus on quality, both in the products they sell online as well as their customer service. Don't expect to see the likes of Etude House or Holika Holika here, as their main focus is to introduce many other amazing brands to the world. I love how their staff are always ready to answer your questions, as well as their useful tips shared on Facebook. Most of all, I love browsing their website (which is so pretty and very professional) just to look at all the exciting new brands from Korea! :)

Vanity Trove Malaysia - Temptress (March) Edition

♫ Gackt - Yuki no Hana 雪の華

“Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.”

VanityTrove Malaysia - March Temptress Edition
Yup, that's the theme for VanityTrove Malaysia's March 2013 edition. Quote above aside, the word "temptress" always brings to mind images of sultry beauties with seductive red lips, right?

The usual VanityTrove box
Open the trove to reveal the temptress within!
The VanityTrove Malaysia packaging is the same as last month's debut box. It is presented in a sturdy white box that has a pink pull-out drawer. The overall design, although not fancy, is simple, elegant and effective. I do not think they will be changing their box design anytime soon, as it is considered a signature of theirs by now.

Product info card for March 2013 VanityTrove Malaysia
There are in total 5 different brands in this month's trove (instead of 4 as listed in the card). To be honest, I am actually kinda disappointed with this month's items. Read on to find out what and why.

Asian Potions Hand and Body Lotion (mini sample jar)
I've never heard of this brand before, which is a good thing. Even though it is listed as Blooming Ginger Body Lotion in the card, the lotion sample itself doesn't have any ginger scent at all. The strongest scent I can detect is jasmine (and roses?), which I personally like. The lotion is very lightweight and does not feel sticky on the skin. :)
Asian Potions Hand and Body Lotion
Bio-Essence Bird's Nest Bio-Energy Firm & Brighten Eye Cream with SPF 15 (3ml)
This item was not listed in the info card. Nevertheless, I'd glad to have this to try out, as I've been trying to find a good eye cream. The side effects of staring at computer/phone screens 7 days a week. (⌒_⌒;)
Bio-Essence Bird's Nest Eye Cream with SPF 15
Sensiplus Hydrasilk Gel Tonic (2ml)
Sensiplus Hydrasilk Day & Night Cream SPF10 (5ml)
Again, another brand I have not heard of before. Sensiplus+ is formulated specially for sensitive skin. The gel tonic is used as a toner after cleansing, and the cream can be used both during the day and night (24 hours).
Sensiplus Hydrasilk Gel Tonic and Day & Night Cream
Kanebo Lunasol Skin Fusing Powder Foundation (o.6g)
This powder foundation claims to smoothen any uneven surfaces and provide natural, shine-free coverage. Contains SPF 20 PA++.
Lunasol Skin Fusing Powder Foundation
Lunasol Smoothing Makeup Base (1g x 2sachets)
This item is also not listed in the info card, but basically it's exactly what it says on the sachet - it's a makeup base. (^^;) Use this with the powder foundation above to achieve temptingly flawless skin.
Lunasol Smoothing Makeup Base
Timeless Truth (TT) Orchid Extract Whitening Mask (1 piece)
The 3rd unknown brand, and is the only full-sized item inside the trove. It contains orchid, purple peril and chamomile extracts to help whiten, brighten and moisturize skin. The generous amount of essence (30ml) in each pack ensures that there is enough even for your neck and body.
Timeless Truth Orchid Extract Whitening Mask
Vouchers from Timeless Truth, Kanebo and Asian Potions
Last but not least, some vouchers from the brands in this month's trove. To be honest, I seldom (if ever) use these vouchers, as the expiry dates are sometimes too close, or the outlet is not easily accessible (or because it's not payday yet, lol).
Vouchers from various brands
There are a total of 6 sample-sized products and 1 full-sized item inside the VanityTrove March edition. Overall, it was a pretty good trove in terms of product availability. However, considering that the theme is "temptress", I would have expected at least a colour cosmetic item of the red varity. Red is, after all, the signature colour of a temptress. Based on the samples, I would consider purchasing the Asian Potion lotion, for its lovely scent and lightweight texture.
