Review: Etude House Drawing Show Creamy Liner in BR401 (Brown)

♫ Super Junior M - Break Down

About a month back, I was contacted by Etude House informing me that I had won a Drawing Show Creamy Liner from one of their contests, so I was super excited to go and collect it, because I've never used gel liner before. (^_^;)

The outer box packaging is very girly and pink, which is pretty much the overall impression you get from Etude House, lol. The design suits the product's name "Drawing Show" with pink theater-like curtains and stage lights.

Inside, you will find the eyeliner, which is housed in a sturdy frosted plastic pot, and a small extendable brush.

I wouldn't say the brush is the best, but it does work to pick up and apply the creamy eyeliner with minimal fuss. The brush comes with a cover that doubles as an extended handle, which is pretty useful.

I received the Drawing Show Creamy Liner in BR401 (Brown Double Shot), which is a dark brown shade. The eyeliner is housed in a small frosted plastic pot, which is lightweight but feels sturdy enough to weather a few bumps.

It colour looks plain brown in the pot, but upon swatching/application, I noticed little flecks of gold in it, which gives it a little more depth than normal opaque shades. :)
The creamy liner applies very smoothly and is very pigmented. I would say it is quite waterproof, as it did not budge under running water, and I had to rub the swatches on my hand quite thoroughly in order to get the results you see above. Good thing is, it doesn't smudge!

Here's how it looks on the eyelids. Keep in mind that this is my first time using gel liner, therefore smooth crisp lines are basically impossible for me to achieve (at the moment, that is). I NEED TO PRACTICE MORE WITH THIS!

I feel that this Etude House Drawing Show Creamy Liner (4g) would be a great product for beginners of gel liner (like me), as it is creamy, pigmented and glides easily onto the lids. It also comes with a handy little brush, so you don't have to buy a separate brush. Overall, it seems like a pretty good product, unless you suffer from oily lids after a few hours, to which I can only say... invest in a good primer! ψ(`∇´)ψ *evil laugh*

✓ Pros: Nice and sturdy packaging, comes with extendable brush, pigmented colour, smooth creamy texture, smudge-proof, available in 4 different shades, affordable price.
✗ Cons: Will fade after a few hours especially on those with oily lids, brush quality is so-so, not very waterproof.

Disclaimer: Product(s) in this post were won from a contest. They were not sent in for review.

Tutorial: Pink Gradient Ulzzang Lips

♫ 蔡依林 - 诗人漫步

In the past couple of years, I've noticed the growing popularity of ulzzang makeup and, slightly more recently, gradient lips. Today, I'll be doing a tutorial of my take on the ulzzang/gradient lip trend, inspired in part by Yoon Eun Hye's lovely makeup in my current k-drama addiction, 보고싶다 "I Miss You"

First, you will need to prepare some items.
  • Lip brush - to blend the colours for a subtle gradient effect
  • Lip concealer (optional)
  • Lip tint
  • Lipstick (optional)
  • Lip Gloss

Let's get started!

Step 1: As with all lip colour application, you will need to start out with properly moisturized bare lips. It's the bare canvas (so to speak) for your 'art'. ;)

Step 2: Conceal your lips using a lip concealer. You can use the leftovers from your foundation application too. I used the Kiss Me Heavy Rotation lip concealer here.

Step 3: Apply a tiny amount of lip tint to the inner/center part of your lips, and blend slightly outwards by pressing your lips together or using a lip brush. I used Etude House Kissful Tint Chou #2.

Step 4 (optional): Apply a similar shade of lipstick on the inner/center part of your lips (on top of the lip tint) and blend outwards using a lip brush. I used Peripera My Color Lips #04 Holy Pink.

Step 5: Finish with a coat of clear lip gloss or lip balm to lock in the colour and provide moisture to lips! I used Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss "Candy Baby".

Voila! The result is a deliciously pink gradient pout! ~♡(´ε` )

One very important thing to remember when doing a gradient lip is blending! We want the colour gradient to be smooth and subtle, so using a lip brush is recommended, especially if you're using a lipstick instead of the watery-type lip tints.

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial! It's been a while since I've done a step-by-step. ^^;; Do tell me what are your thoughts on the gradient lip trend in the comments, I'd love to hear your opinions! :)

♫ Kimberly 陈芳语 - 爱你

Ah, roses. The symbol of romance, love, passion, purity, and friendship. Most women love it, so it's no surprise that the recent SHILLS Damascus Rose Skincare Series launch at Garden Cafe, Midvalley was an enjoyable one for those who attended. (◡‿◡✿)

Kim and I
SHILLS Damascus Rose Skincare Series
I met up with Kim for lunch at The Gardens before heading for the event, which was held at Garden Cafe, Midvalley Megamall. The theme for the event was pink and white, so it was a very girly affair indeed.

After registration, we collected our goodie bags and mingled around with the other bloggers and guests before the demonstration started. There were also several displays around the venue where we could test and snap pics of the products being launched.

I actually keep these event stickers, lol
Some of the familiar faces there. :D Also met Angeline, Arisa, FiSh, Carolyn and a few others, but didn't take pics with them. >_<

The product introduction and demonstration was given by SHILLS product manager, Eva, and assisted by the cheerful emcee. He looked very familiar but I just couldn't recall where I'd seen him, lol.

The core ingredients of the Damascus Rose Skincare Series - rose essential oil and hyaluronic acid. Did you know that 4000kg of rose petals is required to extract 1kg of rose essential oil?! ∑(O_O;) No wonder it's also known as "The Liquid of Gold".

One of the star products of the Damascus Rose Series range, the Rose Petal Jelly Mask. It is specially made of natural fresh organic rose petals and authentic rose essential oil that hydrates and soothes skin fatigue, ensuring skin suppleness and controlling sebum secretion. After the introduction and demonstration, we were treated to some refreshments. It was a good opportunity for us to talk to the other bloggers and share our thoughts over some food. :)

It was a really nice event, and we each got a bottle of the Rose Essential Hydrating Toner in our goodie bags to take home and try. I've been using it for the past week, and I love the rose scent! Plus it doesn't contain alcohol, so it doesn't dry out my face. ♥

♫ Gary 叶俊岑 - 放心

I know Christmas is already over, and we've just welcomed another new year, but allow me to backtrack a little and share some cheer.

About 2 weeks before Christmas, I joined a Christmas giveaway by en(reach)ing lives X Omoshiroi.Ya and managed to win a set of 10 cute little Christmas greeting cards. (^O^)

The parcel arrived a few days before Christmas, but I could only pick it up at the post office in the morning on Dec 24th. Just in time, as I was going for dinner with my friends that evening, so I spent some time in the afternoon to write some simple messages on the cards to give to them. (^_^;) Really glad they loved the cards!

You can read about my previous lucky encounter with en(reach)ing lives too! Do drop by their page to get your daily dose of inspiration, and so support Omoshiroi.Ya because they have lots of cute and quirky items for sale. :)
