Review: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in #210 Unapologetic

♫ INFINITE - Back

I finally got my grubby paws on this Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm! *dances a mental jig*

Look, the balm and background matches with Zamba!
To be exact, the Revlon Matte Balm in shade #210 Unapologetic, which I had been eyeing since practically forever (okay, not forever, more like since it was released) but never got around to buying it because a) I didn't want to buy it at full price (⌒_⌒;) and b) it's usually sold out at most places. So imagine my happiness when I managed to track it down at The Curve's Guardian pharmacy last week when they were having the Buy 1 Free 1 promotion. ψ(`∇´)ψ

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm
The Revlon Matte Balm comes in a chubby crayon packaging, and the outer packaging colour corresponds to the product's shade. I love the feel of holding it in my hands because of the smooth matte texture of the plastic. Weird, I know. (◑‿◐)

Retractable lip crayon
One of the good things about the Revlon Colorburst Balms is that they are retractable. Easy application, no mess with sharpening, and no wastage!

Revlon Matte Balm #210 Unapologetic

Just as its name implies, #210 Unapologetic is a daringly unapologetic, bright, almost neon coral-pink shade that is sure to draw attention to your lips when worn.

Swatches: 1 layer vs 2 layers
The balm is very pigmented, especially this particular shade. One swipe is just right to give your lips a bright pink hue, while 2 or more swipes will make it brighter and more opaque. I normally just apply a single swipe on my lower lip, and then distribute the colour by pressing my lips together and blending them out with my finger.

This is how it looks like when applied on the lips (2 layers). It already looks pretty bright in pictures, but trust me, it's even brighter in real life. ಠ_ಠ

This particular shade (#210 Unapologetic) is one that you'd either have to be bold enough to rock, or use with a light hand if you're going for a more subtle lip. Best paired with minimal makeup, because you don't want to have too much going on on your face, lol.

This is how I usually wear it - blotted and with lip balm/gloss on top
So, what do I love about these Revlon Matte Balms? First, they're so convenient to carry around and touch-up. Although a matte formula, they don't dry out my lips and it feels like I'm hardly wearing any lip products because they feel so light. Another plus point is the amazing pigmentation! ♥

Just one thing that I dislike about them is the minty scent, which is rather strong - although that is more personal preference than anything. Luckily it dissipates after a while.

✓ Pros: Good pigmentation, light texture, matte but not drying, user-friendly packaging, fairly affordable price, good variety of colours/textures (including Balm Stain and Lacquer Balm range)
✗ Cons: Minty scent/feeling

I wanted to get this colour and have been hunting for the Buy 1, Free 1 offer. I checked out One Utama's and Sunway's Guardian but don't see any Buy 1, Free 1 offer :(

Sarah: Whaaaat? They didn't have the Buy 1 Free 1 offer over the weekend?! Most of the Guardians I went to had only the purple, orange and nude shades left. >_< Was lucky enough to discover the new Guardian outlet at The Curve which had 3-4 of this shade.

Nope, they didn't have it :(
Was quite bummed that the offer wasn't available when everyone was sharing about a Buy 1, Free 1 on these babies. ARARGHHHH

I'm a fan of matte lipstick. When this was out and I wanted to buy it, mum commented I have too much at home. Now that it's buy 1 free 1, I finally bought this and Snowy. Love the Snowy, Unapologetic is fluorescent pink on me. Nonetheless awesome color. Not a fan of the minty scent too.

Sarah: WHY LIKE THAT WAN! :(

Street Love: I was reading your comment and wondering 'where got Snowy?' then I google and realize it's Showy lol. I wanted to get that shade along with Unapologetic but everywhere was sold out. :( Unapologetic is a very neon pink with hints of coral on me.

Wow, it's really light and gorgeous on you! It's so bright and not that great on me.

I love these matte balms and I think they give the pricier Chubby Sticks a real run for their money.

I thought you might also be one to try that very purple one, Laura, but Apologetic looks really lovely on you.

I personally love any lippie with a mint flavour so they are perfect for me. In saying that, you won't like the Marc Jacobs Lust for Lacquers then - they're even mintier than these. Literally, mint lozenge minty!

I went to HK and got me the Revlon Matte Balm in a shade that wasn't available here. We only got 8 shades here in Malaysia but there were actually 10 shades released worldwide.

Ahleessa: Thank you dear! :) I usually wear it very light and blended out because it's so bright, haha~

ShopGirl: I haven't tried out the Chubby Sticks but from all the reviews, I think I'll just stick to these more affordable alternatives. XD I thought of picking up the purple one, actually, but then I don't think I'll be using it much, if at all. Hopefully Revlon will bring in the other 2 shades? Haha~ Thank you for the heads up about the Marc Jacobs - I don't think I'll be going anywhere near them if they're so minty! (And my wallet is sighing a big sigh of relief HAHA)

Nothing beats buy 1 get 1 free promotions because it's so rare (at least in our part of the world eh?)! You must have been ecstatic to spot a colour that you actually wanted. Did you get 2 Unapologetics or some other shade?

Olufunmi: Thank you! I guess this is one of the more popular shades for the Matte Balms. :) It's also often sold out here.

Blair: IKR! B1F1 is so rare in our part of the world. I was seriously considering buying 2 of Unapologetic, but then in the end decided to get Audacious for the other one instead. Now I'm thinking I should have bought 2 of the same, and given the extra to a friend since it's such a hard-to-find shade. >_<

Got to agree with you about the minty scent, I don't like it either.

Belle Femme: Thank you for dropping by! :) It's worth a try if you love lip products like me.

Nadia: I'm really happy I managed to grab it during the B1F1 promo. ^^ I love how it's so bright and eye catching, but can be toned down with a light hand and some blending. Also, yay for non-mint scent-lovers, haha! XD

Jurika: Aww thank you <3

Panda: Zumba says thank you! :3 It's definitely a very pigmented and bright shade; perfect if you love these types of colours ^^
