Review: Miacare Acne Defense Concealer Stick

♫ 林俊杰 - 新地球 专辑

Now, we all know that concealers are pretty darn useful to hide our panda eyes (a.k.a. dark circles) and red spots/blemishes. However, I personally hesitate to apply any sort of makeup on pimples/acne, for fear of making the spot worse.

Miacare Acne Defense Concealer Stick is a concealer stick made specifically to target acne areas. It aims to help oily, blemish-prone skin beat acne and at the same time soothe, calm and cover blemishes.

The product adopts the latest technology that perfectly combines the ingredients of flaw repair and skin toning. With high skin affinity, it instantly integrates with foundation by gentle massaging and can also improve acne and pimple problems at the same time.

The retractable pen type design makes it easy to use; the plastic body, while lightweight, looks and feels rather flimsy. The shade of the concealer (there's only 1 shade available) makes it more suitable only for those with medium skin tones.

The instructions on the box state that "After cleansing and (base) makeup, apply the Acne Defence Concealer Stick on desired areas". I am lucky because I seldom have acne problems, except when the weather is exceptionally hot or when I'm under major duress.

I tried using this concealer stick on a pimple, and personally, I felt that it was a tad too dry on my normal/combination skin. It did manage to cover most of the redness around the pimple, but the concealer was not pigmented enough to cover the 'head' of the pimple, which was still fairly visible and couldn't be concealed well. You will need at least a few layers for full coverage; not recommended as this will undoubtedly cause more harm than good. (⌒_⌒;)

Overall, I feel that this product is just average. It would be more suitable for medium skin tone users with oily skin that is prone to acne and blemishes, as the formula of the concealer stick is on the dry side. It's also pretty expensive, considering the price for only 1.2g of product. It comes in a slim, lightweight, retractable pen, making it easy to carry around for touch-ups if needed.

Miacare Acne Defense Concealer Stick (1.2g) retails at RM 24.90, and is available at all Watsons and Guardians naionwide.

Yes, it sounds pretty good, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to perform half as well as claimed. :(
