Review: Maybelline Hypersharp Liner Laser Precision in Brown

♫ Aloe Blacc X David Correy - The World Is Ours

Whether it is to perfect that alluring cat-eye, or the geometric details trending right now, Maybelline's new Hypersharp Liner Laser Precision eyeliner gives you better control and precision.

An improved version of the original Hypersharp Liner (which only came in one shade - Black, and had a 0.05mm tip), the new Hypersharp Liners come in 3 shades (Intense Black, Soft Black, and Brown) and boasts a 0.01mm tip, the first and thinnest in Malaysia.

The one I have is the Hypersharp Liner in Brown. I've always had a love for brown eyeliners, so I was definitely eager to see how it would fare, especially after reading all the other bloggers' reviews.

0.01 tip for drawing precise lines
Indeed, the tip is one of the thinnest I've ever seen. However, I do notice that most brush-type liquid eyeliners have very thin tips, so it all boils down to the pigmentation of the liner itself.

Swatch on arm
In terms of precision and drawing fine lines, the Hypersharp Liner does live up to its claims. I can easily draw thin lines, thicker lines, flicks and even curlicues easily. Nevertheless, I am rather disappointed by the pigmentation. One swipe yields a light brown line, and you will need to build up several layers to get a properly dark brown shade. That, in turn, increases the chance of smudging your eyeliner before it can dry.

Tried doing a double-winged eyeliner look, and I must say I quite like it. (◕‿◕✿) The thin tip allows me to draw flicks easily, and since the colour is buildable, I can draw a soft rough outline before filling it in. Guess there's actually a plus side to that. Besides that, the natural brown shade is perfect for that 'no makeup' makeup, or just for days when you want to keep your makeup simple and natural.

✓ Pros: Waterproof, smudge-proof, dark brown shade suitable for natural eye makeup, ultra thin 0.01mm brush-tip is great for precise eyeliner application, affordable price.
✗ Cons: Not very pigmented.

The Maybelline Hypersharp Liner Laser Precision retails at RM 35.90 and is available at all major supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide.

Sherry: Hehe thank you! For oily lids, I think you will need to use a primer to make the eye makeup last longer. Otherwise I think maybe a pencil or gel liner will last longer. :)
